In a significant development for FC Barcelona, the club has submitted Marc-André ter Stegen's medical report to La Liga, following the goalkeeper's authorization. This action comes after a period of considerable tension and public dispute between the player and the club.

The conflict stemmed from Ter Stegen's recent back surgery and the club's desire to have his injury classified as a long-term absence by La Liga. This would allow Barcelona to clear a portion of his salary from their wage bill, which is crucial for the club to comply with financial fair play regulations and register new players, such as summer signing Joan Garcia.

Initially, Ter Stegen had refused to sign the necessary paperwork, leading to Barcelona opening a disciplinary proceeding and temporarily stripping him of the captaincy. Ter Stegen, for his part, released a statement clarifying that his surgery and recovery timeline had been fully approved by the club and that he did not believe his injury should be a factor in registering new teammates.

However, the situation has now been resolved. Ter Stegen has signed the authorization, and the club has since closed the disciplinary file and reinstated him as first-team captain. The medical report is now in the hands of La Liga's Medical Commission, which will assess the recovery period.

The commission's decision is highly anticipated. If Ter Stegen's absence is deemed to be four months, Barcelona can use 50% of his salary for new registrations. If it is assessed at five months or more, the percentage would increase to 80%. This ruling is expected early next week and will determine whether Barcelona can register new players in time for the start of the season.
