SAN SEBASTIAN, Spain – Real Madrid extended their perfect start to the La Liga season on Saturday, securing a hard-fought 2-1 victory at Real Sociedad despite playing a man down for nearly an hour. The win was spearheaded by a brilliant performance from Kylian Mbappé, who scored one goal and assisted the other.

Mbappé opened the scoring in the 12th minute, latching onto a poor pass from a Real Sociedad player and firing a clinical finish past goalkeeper Alex Remiro. However, Real Madrid's task became significantly more difficult in the 32nd minute when new central defender Dean Huijsen was shown a straight red card for pulling down Mikel Oyarzabal, who was through on goal.

Despite the numerical disadvantage, Real Madrid managed to double their lead just before halftime. Mbappé, once again at the heart of the action, used some impressive dribbling to get past his marker before setting up Arda Guler for a close-range finish in the 44th minute.

Real Sociedad fought back in the second half, with Oyarzabal pulling one back from the penalty spot in the 56th minute after a handball by Dani Carvajal. However, Real Madrid's defense, anchored by Thibaut Courtois, held firm under pressure to secure the 2-1 win.

The victory marks Real Madrid's fourth in as many games to start the La Liga season, keeping them at the top of the table. Meanwhile, Real Sociedad remains winless with two points from four matches.
