RS Berkane Crowned CAF Confederation Cup Champions After Thrilling Final Against Simba SC RS Berkane of Morocco have won the 2024/25 CAF Confederation Cup, defeating Tanzania's Simba SC with a 3-1 aggregate score in the final.
The second leg of the final, played yesterday (May 25, 2025) in Zanzibar, ended in a 1-1 draw, which was enough for the Moroccan side to secure their third title in the competition. Simba SC, playing at home, took the lead in the 17th minute through Joshua Mutale, igniting hopes of a comeback after losing the first leg 2-0. However, their chances were dealt a significant blow when Yusuph Kagoma received a second yellow card in the 50th minute, leaving Simba with ten men. Despite being a man down, Simba continued to push, even having a goal by Steven Mukwala disallowed by VAR in the 73rd minute for offside. The decisive moment came in the 90+3 minute when Soumaila Sidibe scored the equalizer for RS Berkane, effectively sealing the championship. This victory marks RS Berkane's third CAF Confederation Cup title, having previously won in 2020 and 2022, solidifying their position as a dominant force in African club football.
